The anthémis is a plant that belongs to the Asteraceae family and has flowers similar to daisies or daisies. Depending on the varieties, these will generally be white or yellow, like the dyers' hemi-hemi used by them to produce yellow dye. It is also sometimes given the name of chamomile, or anthémis nobilis. The yellow anthemis flower or white is in the form of a flower head, that is to say several petals which are arranged around a heart.
Different varieties of hemisemia
As explained above, several varieties of anthemis exist. The yellow anthemis of the dyers is the most widespread, there are also the mountain hemis, the fields hemis, the nobilis (or chamomile) hemis or the styriaca hemis. Despite the commonly yellow or white flowers, the anthemis presents a large palette of colors represented by the pink anemia, the purple anemia.
Cultivation and flowering of the anthemis
Spring is the most favorable season for planting the Anemia. Care should be taken to place it in well-drained soil, as its roots rot in standing water. If the temperature drops below -5 ° C in winter for long periods, it will then be necessary to leave it in a pot and return it in November to bring it out the following spring. If, despite the low winter temperature, the hedgehog is left outside, remember to cut the very short stems and put a good thickness of straw on the tuft. To allow the anemia to produce new flowers, consider cutting the flowers as soon as they wilt. Finally, prune the anemia into a ball shape at the end of winter.
Maintenance of the anthemis
The flower of anhememia is very easy to maintain and is perfectly adapted to temperate climates, except that it hardly supports frost. In addition, its reproduction is done very easily by cuttings, ideally during the month of August. The seeds of anthemis spread quickly and far, so it is not unusual to find anthemis far from the beds in which they were sown a few seasons earlier.
Enemies of the anthemis
Aphids can attack anthémis, they can be eliminated through the application of anti-aphid treatments.
